Compassion in World Farming Announces 2022 Sustainable Food and Farming Awards
2/16/2022
Compassion in World Farming is inviting entries to its 2022 Sustainable Food and Farming Awards, established to recognize producers and businesses that are taking steps to produce higher welfare meat, dairy and eggs in ways that protect, improve, and restore wildlife and the environment.
Compassion USA is seeking projects that involve livestock production and that demonstrate a positive impact on two or more of the following: pollinators, wildlife, wildlife habitats, soil, conservation, forests, climate change, water quality, water conservation, reducing the use of artificial fertilizers and chemical pesticides, reducing reliance on imported animal feeds, reducing the use of human-edible cereals and soy, tailoring farming to local agro-climatic conditions.
Philip Lymbery, Global Chief Executive of Compassion in World Farming, said, “In a world of growing nature collapse, changing our food systems has never been more important. Our Sustainable Food and Farming Award seeks to bring greater recognition for farmers and businesses pioneering and boosting nature-friendly farming. In this way, we aim to safeguard the natural world as our life-support system for the future.”
Entries will be judged by a panel chaired by Philip Lymbery, including Graham Harvey, agricultural journalist and previous story editor of the long-running BBC radio drama The Archers.
The deadline for the Sustainable Food and Farming Award applications is Friday, April 8, 2022. Winners will be announced at our Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards ceremony in London on June 15, 2022.
Producers and businesses wishing to apply may download an application form.
